Protecting Parks, Connecting People
About Brian
I grew up in the region and now live in Bismarck with my wife and our two children. As a family, we spend as much time as possible outdoors—exploring the city’s trails, visiting local parks, and enjoying the natural spaces that make our community such a special place to call home.
My passion for the outdoors is both personal and professional. Over the years, I have worked as a professional guide in the United States and abroad, facilitated outdoor and experiential education programs for youth, and served as an arborist. These experiences have instilled in me a deep commitment to environmental stewardship and to ensuring that everyone has access to safe, welcoming places and programs.
Today, I work for the State as an environmental scientist specializing in water quality. Protecting our natural resources is not just my job—it’s a responsibility I take seriously for the health and future of our community. In 2024, I was appointed to the City of Bismarck Forestry Advisory Board. Serving on the board has strengthened my desire to engage more deeply in civic life and help guide thoughtful, sustainable decisions for our city.
I am also an enrolled member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians. Indigenous approaches to land management—grounded in respect, long-term thinking, and stewardship—strongly influence how I approach my work and community service.
I believe that Bismarck’s parks, recreation facilities, and afterschool and youth programs are integral to our shared sense of place and quality of life. I am excited to represent the needs of our community today while making smart, forward-thinking decisions that will benefit generations to come.
